Our Lady of Victories Cathedral, Dakar
The Our Lady of Victories Cathedral or Cathedral of Dakar, is a religious building that serves as the Catholic cathedral in the city of Dakar, the capital of the African country of Senegal, which is the seat of the Archdiocese of Dakar. The sanctuary was built on the site of an ancient Lebu cemetery, whose land was granted by the government to the church. The construction began in 1924 and the cathedral was consecrated 12 years later, on 2 February 1936, by Cardinal Jean Verdier, archbishop of Paris.
