Lake Bangweulu
Lake Bangweulu is a freshwater lake in northern Zambia. The lake comprises a number of number of embayments and it is surrounded on nearly all sides, except the southwest, by the Bangweulu Wetlands, one of the world's great wetland systems, comprising permanent swamps with smaller lakes, lagoons and myriad channels; seasonally-inundated grassy floodplains; and dambos along the margins of dry land, the latter being covered mainly in miombo woodland. All may be considered as one ecosystem, or as a mosaic of interelated ecosystems.
