La Navidad
La Navidad was a Spanish fort that Christopher Columbus and his crew built on the northwest coast of Hispaniola in 1492 from the remains of the Spanish ship the Santa María during his first voyage. La Navidad was the first European settlement established in the New World during the Age of Discovery, although it was destroyed by Indigenous people by the following year.
